Welcome to our tutorial on how to use the Peta Jane Self-Tanning mousse! Give your skin the sun-kissed look without exposing yourself to harmful UV rays. Easily achieve a natural-looking tan at home. Here is a step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Exfoliate your skin (at least 24 hours BEFORE applying your tan)
Before applying your self-tanning mousse, it’s important to exfoliate your skin to remove any dead skin cells and create a smooth base for the tanning product to adhere to. Use your exfoliating glove or loofah to gently scrub your skin in circular motions, focusing on areas with rough patches or dry skin. If you want to shave, now is the time to do it as well! Rinse off with warm water and pat your skin dry with a towel.
Don't exfoliate right before your self-tan as that can affect how your skin absorbs the tan!
Step 2: Apply moisturizer to dry areas (at least 24 hours BEFORE applying your tan)
Next, apply a very light amount of moisturizer to dry areas like your elbows, knees, and ankles, cuticles as these are common areas for the tan to become patchy. Stay away from oils and heavy creams, and do not moisturize the rest of your body as that could cause the tanning mousse to end up looking patchy and uneven!
Step 3: Apply the Self-tanning Mousse
Now, it’s time to apply the self-tanning mousse! Begin by shaking the bottle well to ensure the product is evenly mixed. Squeeze a small amount of the mousse onto your mitt and spread it evenly over your skin, starting at your ankles and working your way up. The mitt will also help to prevent any staining on your hands. Use long, circular motions to blend the mousse into your skin and avoid streaks.
Step 4: Stay Dry!
After you’ve applied the self-tanning mousse, let it dry for a minute before getting dressed or going to bed. We recommend wearing dark & loose long sleeved clothing to minimize any transfer onto your bed sheets/ white clothes. Do not exercise or go swimming as any water during the development phase will cause your self-tan to be uneven and streaky!
Step 6: Rinse off
After 6/8 hours, rinse off any excess product with warm water and pat your skin dry with a dark-colored towel. This will help to avoid any staining on your towels or bedding. We recommend not using soap or a washcloth for your first rinse to avoid stripping the tan. Certain body soaps will alter the PH of your skin and turn the tan orange or cause it to fade quicker than it should.
Step 7: Enjoy your new tan!
Congratulations, you’ve successfully applied your self-tanning mousse! Your new tan will last up to 7 days! Be sure to moisturize your skin daily to maintain your beautiful, sun-kissed glow!
