FAQ: How To Tan Your Face

Your Easy Guide to Face Tanning

Face tanning doesn’t need to be complicated. With just a couple products and some quick tips, you’ll master a natural-looking tan at home in minutes. Here are four different ways you can tan your face based on your desired results:

1. To Tan Your Whole Face:

Start by selecting your preferred tanning mousse shade. Use the Peta Jane Face Perfecting Brush for the smoothest application. Pump a small, pea-sized amount onto your brush and gently blend in circular motions. Be careful around the eyebrows, hairline, and jawline to ensure a seamless blend—these areas tend to grab more product.

2. To Contour Your Face:

Enhance your natural features by using your mousse to contour. Focus on areas you want to highlight—typically the cheekbones, jawline, temples, and forehead. Apply lightly with the Face Perfecting Brush and blend thoroughly to create soft, natural definition. Start subtly—you can always add more for extra depth.

3. To Tan Your Face Quickly:

If you're short on time, reach for the tanning mist. Shake well, close your eyes, and hold the mist about 8-10 inches away from your face. Spray lightly and evenly in a continuous motion, ensuring you cover your entire face without oversaturating. Allow a few seconds to dry—no rubbing or blending needed.

4. To Tan Your Face Gradually:

For tanning beginners or those who prefer simplicity, our Gradual Face Tan is the perfect choice. It's gentle, buildable, and ideal for sensitive skin. Apply a small amount evenly to clean skin, blending well around the neck and ears. Use daily as part of your skincare routine to achieve a natural, subtle glow that builds beautifully over time.

Simple steps, great results. Face tanning made easy.

STEP BY STEP: Mist

STEP 1: SHOWER

Exfoliate and avoid moisturizer/lotion at least 24 hours prior to application. Shower before application.

STEP 2: SHAKE

Shake well and pump the Tanning Mousse onto the PJB Mitt.

STEP 3: APPLY

Apply evenly in upward circular motions, starting with legs and working your way up. Work in small sections, as the tan dries quickly. With the leftover mousse on the mitt, cover hard to perfect areas such as hands and feet last.

STEP 4: ENJOY YOUR TAN

Your tan will develop in 6-8 hours. Shower in the morning, pat dry, and show off your tan!

Pro Tip:

If you are tanning overnight, wear long sleeve PJs and socks to prevent any transfer onto your sheets!

Does the face tanner make your dark spots darker? I saw someone on Instagram say it does not.
