The right formulas for your bachelorette, bridal shower, and wedding day
Not all tans are created equal, and your wedding isn’t the time to risk streaks, dryness, or looking orange under flash photography. Let’s dive in.
Wedding Tan Timeline: When to Self Tan Before Your Wedding
Timing your tan correctly is just as important as choosing the right formula.
3 months before your wedding
Test different formulas and shades - this is how you find the best self tanner for your skin tone - not the night before your wedding.
1 week before
Finalize your routine. No experimenting.
4 days before
Exfoliate and moisturize thoroughly to ensure a streak-free self tan. Do not moisturize right before tanning as it can block the absorption of the tanner.
2 days before
Shower and then apply your tan to dry skin. Avoid moisturizer or oils before tanning. This allows it to fully develop into a natural-looking bridal glow.
1 day before
Only light touch-ups if needed. Your makeup artist will take care of the rest when you’re getting ready on your big day.

Best Self Tan for Brides Who Want a Subtle, Natural Wedding Glow
If your goal is a natural self tan for wedding photos, the focus should be on enhancing your skin, not dramatically changing your tone.
Wedding photography (especially flash) can exaggerate overly dark or uneven tans. The best results come from a buildable, skin-first formula.
Our gradual tanners are perfect for the bride who wants a natural, low maintenance tan on her wedding day. These formulas are non-comedogenic face and body lotions that help you build a natural-looking tan over time. They’re designed for all skin types (even sensitive, or acne-prone skin!) and they fit into your routine just like a face or body moisturizer would; morning or night. This duo comes with them both.
With Peta Jane Beauty Gradual Face + Body Tanners, your tan will develop in 6-8 hours. These gradual tanners allow for you to build your ideal shade ahead of your wedding day without risking streaks or turning orange. No need to worry about rinsing, and neither formula will stain sheets or clothing. For best results, we recommend using 3-4 times a week. Just don’t forget to wash your hands after applying.

Best Self Tan for Bachelorette Parties & Bridal Events
For your bachelorette or bridal shower, go a little deeper for your tan! You’re likely going to be in direct sunlight, maybe in a swimsuit, and definitely posing for more casual photos. A slightly deeper shade will show up better in sunlight and give your skin that healthy, vacation-ready finish.
The Essential Bundle is exactly what it sounds like: a full, streamlined tanning routine designed to take the guesswork out of getting a flawless, natural-looking tan. It includes our best-selling tanning mist (that only comes in shade medium), a tanning mousse with four shade options of your choice and our signature tanning mitt for flawless blending and coverage.
What makes this bundle especially ideal for bridal prep is the versatility - you’re not locked into just one type of tan, which means you can build a tan that matches every pre-wedding moment.
The mousse is your go-to for bolder, all-over bronze; a staple to have on hand when you want a more noticeable, sun-kissed tan that still feels effortless and skin-like.
HOW TO APPLY SELF-TANNING MOUSSE FOR A FLAWLESS TAN
The mist gives you a more flexible, buildable option - ideal for layering throughout the week, topping up your glow, or keeping things fresh between events without starting from scratch.
HOW TO APPLY FACE & BODY MIST, STEP BY STEP
Together, they let you dial your tan up or down depending on the vibe - whether you’re going full bronzed for a weekend away or keeping it soft and sun-kissed leading up to the big day. They’re the kind of staples you’ll always want on hand; without clinging to dry skin, leaving streaks, or turning orange.
Best Self Tanner for Bridesmaids
When it comes to your bridal party, the goal isn’t for everyone to look identical - it’s for everyone to look cohesive.
A common mistake is trying to get every bridesmaid to use the exact same shade or product. But with different skin tones, undertones, and comfort levels, that can actually create more contrast and not less.
The best approach is to use buildable, flexible self-tanners that allow each person to customize their depth while still keeping the overall look aligned. This ensures everyone looks like the best version of themselves, just slightly more even, radiant, and photo-ready.
The good news? Peta Jane Beauty literally has a self-tan shade for everyone. And beyond that, we have a formula that fits into anyone's preference. We have plenty of self-tan options for fair and medium skin tones. We have dark and ultra-dark shades of our mousses as well and, you will never have to worry about sensitive skin or acne-prone skin concerns when using our tanners either. All of our formulas are sensitive and acne-prone skin tested as non-comedegenic.

How to Get a Streak-Free Self Tan for Your Wedding
Getting a streak-free self tan comes down to prep, technique, and timing. Nail these steps, and your glow will look even, natural, and photo-ready from every angle.
1. Start with smooth, balanced skin.
Exfoliate 24–48 hours before applying your tan to remove buildup and prevent patchiness. Follow with a lightweight moisturizer to keep skin hydrated. Do not use moisturizer prior to apply the tan as it can prevent proper absorption.
2. Prep your dry zones.
Right before application, apply a small amount of moisturizer to elbows, knees, hands, and ankles - these areas tend to grab more pigment and can develop darker if left untreated.
3. Always use a mitt when applying mousse.
This ensures an even, streak-free application and helps blend the product seamlessly into the skin - especially on larger areas like legs and arms.
We love our signature mitt as it has a thumb hole for better control when you’re applying and it’s machine washable so you can use it again and again.
4. Apply in sections.
Work one area at a time using long, sweeping motions, then blend in circular motions to avoid harsh lines. Take your time here when you’re applying your mousse. If you’re in a hurry, this is where the Peta Jane Beauty Tanning Mist comes in. Peta always says it's the easiest to freshen up your tan even as you’re running out the door.
5. Go lighter where it matters.
Use whatever product is left on your mitt for hands, feet, and face to keep everything looking soft and natural.
6. Let it fully develop.
Avoid water, sweating, or tight clothing while your tan develops. Once you rinse, your color will continue to settle into its final, natural tone.
7. Maintain your glow.
Keep skin hydrated daily and use a gradual tan to extend the life of your color leading up to the wedding.

As you can see i’ve purchased the Medium tanning mist. Is this supposed to be a beginners package? As nothing came with it (a brush, a mitt) I am a little confused. Thank you for your quick response.
